Toots and Magoo 08/02/08 It is always fun to shoot products that I personally find exciting and beautiful, and shooting for Toots and Magoo has been no exception. Not only do I love their bags, jewelry, paper products and antiques, they are also fair trade and sell work from international artists and designers.
Before the shoot I met with one of the owners of Toots and Magoo and we outlined several priorities for the imagery of the photographs. Foremost, we wanted to capture the vibrant color and different textures of the products taken in the creative space of the shop. The photographs would capture the hand made details of each piece with an over-arching theme of “old meets new.”
It was a challenge to utilize the natural lighting that flooded the front half of the shop through the large display windows, so I shot long exposures on my Hasselblad balancing the available light with a fill.
Here is a sample of the latest product shots that will be used for both web and print for the boutique. If you are in the Chapel Hill area, please explore Toots and Magoo and let your imagination wander.
