Portraits 05/03/09 I've been so busy lately my days feel like they are flying past me. I can't believe that it's already May and 90 degrees outside! When I'm not shooting commercially, I'm finding that I am seeking out the quiet peaceful moments that I'm longing for. These portraits are a work in progress, and a great example of the exchange between subject and photographer. Before I begin creating a portrait I take time to get to know the person, ask questions and listen. Whatever mood they are in when they arrive at the shoot I end up capturing and visually expanding upon so the images aren't forced and are genuine. The portraits I create are more of a collaboration between photographer and subject than anything else. I place the subject and work very hard not to give much direction besides the occasional "look into the camera" and the rest is up to them. Before I begin scouting locations I almost always already have the image in mind that I want to create. The locations are important and help tell the story I am creating with my camera.
